Wahkiakum County Eagle-September 1996 Mildred Darlene Prestegard Age 63, a Hoquiam resident for the past 26 years, died at her home. She was born at Garibaldi, Ore., to Emil and Mary Elizabeth (Lupro) Hard. She had also lived on Bainbridge Island and in Bellingham, where she attended school. She then lived in Alaska for two years before moving to Cathlamet, where she went to high school. In 1951, she married Leslie Prestegard on Puget Island. He survives her at the family home. Because her husband was transferred from place to place in his employment, the couple lived in Oregon, Arizona, California, Alaska and Oklahoma, as well as Washington. She learned the art of flower designing in Bellingham and had worked for florists in Aberdeen, Montesano, Elma and Hoquiam. She also loved to work with flowers in her own garden, as well as being with her grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Michael of Redmond; two daughters, Patsy Wilder of Olympia and Beth Beauchamp of Laramie, Wyo.; a stepbrother, Marty Hendrickson of Renton; a stepsister, Linda Curtis of Seattle; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There was no funeral. Coleman Mortuary of Hoquiam was in charge.
