The Daily News | Posted: Wednesday, May 2, 2007 12:00 am Robert J. Prepula It is with great sadness that the family announces Robert J. Prepula, Sr. of Longview, WA passed away on April 28, 2007. Robert was born October 2, 1920 in Astoria, OR to John and Amanda (Gustafson) Prepula. He married Eva Tienhaara on April 12, 1942 in Astoria, OR. Robert attended the University of Washington. During WWII, he served in the Army medics in the South Pacific and in occupied Japan until his discharge February 1946. Robert then went to work for the Columbia River Packers Association (later Bumble Bee). In 1947, he took over as manager of the Altoona, WA cannery. He was also president of Wahkiakum West Telephone Co. in Rosburg, WA, retiring in 2005 as chairman of the board after 50 years with the company. In 1961, Robert moved his family to Longview, and worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance Co., until his retirement in 1979. Robert was a life member of the American Legion #0111 in Deep River, WA, Local Masonic Lodge #263, and Elks #1482. Survivors include Eva, his wife of 65 years; sons, Robert Prepula, Jr. of Kalama, and Richard (Irene) Prepula of Battle Ground; daughter, Susan (Jim) Hubly of Bellevue, WA; and 5 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Prepula in 1991; and a sister, Loris Moon in 2004. Robert and Eva spent many winters traveling to southern CA and AZ. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting, and camping. He always loved to tell a good story and would make friends wherever he went. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed. Services will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at Longview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632, or Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
