Published in The Daily News on 7/3/2007. Peter O. Peterson 1921 - 2007 Nov. 12, 1921-June 28, 2007 Peter O. Peterson, 85, of Richland passed away peacefully June 28, 2007, at home. Pete was born Nov. 12, 1921, at Oak Point. He drove taxi in the Kelso/Longview areas for 40 years before retiring in 1980. He spent all of his life in the Kelso/Longview and Wahkiakum County areas before moving with his family to Las Vegas in 2001, then to Richland in 2005, where he resided with them and was happy to be back to the Pacific Northwest. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Alberta "Jinny" Peterson, in 1997. Also preceding him were four brothers and one sister. Pete loved gardening, trips to the farmer's market, reading his Bible, watching "Bob Barker" and spending time with his family, especially his only grandchild, who he was very proud of, Evan Peterson of Richland. He enjoyed getting The Daily News brought to him so he could keep up on current events in the area. He was very active and happy. Pete was very proud of his Norwegian heritage and his trip to Norway with his son. He loved to tell stories and talk about growing up on the farm in Oak Point and "the old days". He also cherished the several trips he took to Hawaii with his family, who he is survived by: his son and daughter-in-law, Ole and Lori Peterson, and grandson, Evan, all of Richland. Also surviving him are four nieces, Linda Gipson, Eileen Misiewicz, Julie Comfort and Christine Lynn; one sister-in-law, Elsie Petersen of Longview, and several great-nieces and -nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grasseth Family Cemetery at the end of Oak Point Road (Ocean Beach Highway to Mill Creek Road, outside of Longview).
