PEARSON, Carl H. "Elmer"
 
Age 84, of Kelso, died at his home.  He was born in Sweden.
          
He came to the US at the age of 17 from his native Sweden.  He worked as a faller in the 
logging industry for many years and at one time owned Paul's Canteen, a Cathlamet 
tavern.  He and his wife were owners of the Beach Comber motel in Long Beach for 20 
years.  They moved to Kelso in 1980.
         
Survivors include his wife, Hazel at home; a daughter, Sharryl Ann (Putt) Wirkkala of 
Skamokawa; a sister, Eleen Karlsson of Sweden; and two brothers, Gustav Karlsson and 
Axel Karlsson, both of Sweden; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
         
Memorial services will be Friday at Ditlevesen-Moore Funeral Home in Kelso.
