Wahkiakum Eagle-May 1999 PARKER, Sidney Age 90, a long time resident of Wahkiakum County, died in a Cathlamet nursing home. He was born in Toronto, Canada, to Fred and Ethel L. (Gardner) Parker. The family moved to the United States and he graduated from high school at Huntington, Calif. He married his wife, Mary on November 24, 1930 in Yuma, Ariz. He became a dairy farmer in Tillamook, Ore., moved to Wahkiakum County in 1939 and to Skamokawa in 1943 where he continued dairy farming until the early sixties. He served as Wahkiakum County Assessor from 1958 to 1974 and had also been a county commissioner. He was an active Grange member serving as: Master and Treasurer of Skamokawa Grange; Director of Grange Insurance; Master of Wahkiakum Pomona Grange; Deputy Master and Treasurer of Washington State Grange. He was a commissioner of Cemetery District 2; member of the Dairy Products Commissions under Gov. Langley; and a layleader of the Skamokawa Methodist Church. He was the last living charter member of the Wahkiakum Lions club serving as an officer in many capacities. His hobbies included flower gardening. Survivors include three sons, Richard of Montesano, Charles of Skamokawa and Michael of Cathlamet; two daughter, Beverly Moonen of Skamokawa and Anita Beyers of Salem, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His wife Mary died in 1995. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Warren, Ray and Cliff and a great-great-granddaughter, Felica in 1997. Funeral services were Friday at the Skamokawa United Methodist church with Pastor Bob Corlett officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
