Wahkiakum County Eagle-January 1996 Leona Maye Ostervold Resident of Puget Island, died at Lake Havasu, Ariz., after a short illness. She was born at Astoria, the daughter of Leonie and Mabel (Kessel) Olson. She was a graduate of Naselle High School Class of 1943 and grew up in Rosburg where her parents owned the Rosburg Store. She was married to John Ostervold July 13, 1953 and spent most of her life in Wahkiakum county. She enjoyed spending summers in the Kenai Peninsula area where her husband was a commercial fisherman. In 1975 the couple began spending winters in the Lake Havasu area. She was a member of the Puget Island Orthopedic group, St. Catherine Catholic church and the Alter society. Survivors include her husband, at home; daughter and son-in-law Marnee and Todd Davis; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Carol Wegdahl and Martin and Linda Ostervold of Puget Island; sisters, Joanne Wiester of Chehalis and Clara Rae Bamer of Raymond; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Theresa in 1947 and a grandson, Brian, in 1991. A vigil service was held at St. Catherine Catholic Church. A memorial mass was said by Fr. Hans Olson.
