The Wahkiakum County Eagle-March 26, 2009 Gary M. Olsen Lifelong Cathlamet resident, Gary M. Olsen, 68, passed away March 21, 2009 in Cathlamet. He was born March 2, 1941 in Clatskanie, Ore. to Harry E. and Selma H. (Svensen) Olsen. He grew up and attended school in Cathlamet and Puget Island. As a young man, he commercial fished and trucked cucumbers from Puget Island to Tacoma, before buying his own long-haul truck. Later, he drove log trucks and dump trucks in the local area, until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed his grandchildren’s games, classic cars and car shows, traveling in his RV, boating, camping, spending time with his family and his dog Sparky. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Dorothy, at home; sons, Garrett Olsen, Clayton Olsen and Jeff Olson; daughters, Joannie Bjorge and Lauralee Olson-Taggart; brothers, Douglas Olsen and Spencer Olsen; sister, Phyllis Blix; 12 grandchildren, four great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing is at Dowling Funeral Home, Thursday, March 26 2 – 7 p.m. and Friday, March 27, 9 – 11:30 p.m. There will be a funeral service at Heritage Bible Church on Puget Island, on Friday, March 27 at 1 p.m. Committal to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
