The Wahkiakum County Eagle January 24, 2002 Helen L. Oatfield Helen L. Oatfield, 93, a longtime resident of Naselle, died January 20 at the Willapa Harbor Care Center. She was born December 8, 1908 at Naselle to Toivo and Hilma (Sundberg) Penttila. A graduate of Naselle High School class of 1927, she was baptized and confirmed in the Naselle Luthern church where she was a life long member. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, music and working in her flower garden. She had many lasting friendships over the years and cherished family gatherings. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was deeply loved and respected by her family. She was married to James Oatfield on July 5, 1930. They resided in Skamokawa where they owned and operated a dairy farm. She was a devoted wife and mother and took seriously the responsibilities of family and farm life. Mr. Oatfield died in 1983. She is survived by four sons, Larry Oatfield of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Raymond Oatfield of South Bend, David Oatfield of Seaview and Richard Oatfield of Olympia; a sister Evelyn Engleson of Naselle; 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hady Penttila, Hulda Bighill and Milga Rasmussen and a brother Hans Penttila. A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle. The Reverend Gary Hagen and Tony Stoutenberg will officiate. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond. Memorials may be made to the Naselle Lutheran Church. Helen L.
