R. Craig Nettles R. Craig Nettles, 61, of Puget Island/Cathlamet, died August 4, 2005 in Cathlamet. He was born July 18, 1944 in Longview, the son of Reggie and Patricia (Smyth) Nettles. Craig was a lifelong Wahkiakum resident. He attended school in Skamokawa & Wahkiakum High School in Cathlamet. On March 25, 1960, he married Mary Schippens, whom survives him at home. He is also survived by three daughters, Kelly Heiner & Terri Slape both of Puget Island/ Cathlamet and Kim Nettles of Cathlamet; brother, Bob Iwamoto of Beaverton, Oregon; mother, Patricia Iwamoto of Portland, Oregon; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Bailey".Craig worked as a commercial fisherman from the age of 11 on the Columbia River & in Egegik, Alaska. He was currently working for Chuck's Boat & Drive Co. in Longview. He also worked as a test fisherman for the State of Washington & for Wahkiakum County as a noxious weed sprayer. Craig was a member of the Columbia River Fisherman's Union and was also past member of the Longview Elks & Salmon for all. He liked to go duck & deer hunting and clam digging. Craig was a family man who enjoyed his grandchildren very much. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Nettles (1986); daughter, Shelley Nettles (1966); and brother, Raymond Iwamoto.A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at Dowling Funeral Home in Cathlamet.Dowling Funeral Home of Cathlamet is in charge of arrangements.
