Wahkiakum Eagle-February 1999 MONROE, Harold A. Age 85, died in Vancouver of complications due to Parkinson's disease. He was born at Clatskanie, Ore. On June 6, 1937, he married Norma M. Doumitt at St. Cecilia's Parish in Portland. A resident of Vancouver for the past 57 years, he had been involved with river transportation, primarily log towing as an independent tug boat owner/operator/captain. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church of Vancouver, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Mother Joseph assembly. As a founding member of St Joseph Parish he had helped clear the church grounds. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Vancouver; four daughters, Donna Monroe of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mary Monroe, Nancy Barbier and Lynn Niemi, all of Vancouver; a son, Wayne Monroe of Vancouver; a sister, Irene Lewis of Waldport, Ore.; a brother, Art Monroe of Cathlamet; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral mass was Thursday at St. Joseph church. Rosary was recited Wednesday evening.
