Wahkiakum Eagle-January 1999 MILLER, John Peter Age 78, of Cathlamet and Martinez, Calif., died in Concord Calif. He was born in Portland, and had moved to Martinez 44 years ago from Richmond, Calif. In the warmer months, he lived in Cathlamet. He was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He was retired from Chevron/Standard Oil and was a member of the St. Catherines Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge in Martinez. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Ostervold) Miller, at home; three daughters, Janette Perry and Marianne Miller, both of Marysville, Calif., and Carol Scott of Green Valley Lake, Calif.; five sons, Charles of Benicia, Calif., James of Clearlake, Calif., Thomas of Martinez, Michael of Benicia and Paul of Martinez; three sisters, Rose Marie Tennant, Dorothy Kennedy and Janice Altenhofen, all of Portland; two brothers, James and Thomas, both of Portland; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, John Peter Miller, in 1969; a sister, Francis Miller; and a grandson in 1991. Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Martinez.
