Thursday, August 9, 1945 Volume 55, Number 18 Battle Wounds are Fatal to F. L. Miller Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller received word from the War Department today stating that their son, W. T. 3/c Frank Leon Miller, had died from wounds received in action. Death occurred July 30. No other information was given, and neither Mr. nor Mrs. Miller could be reached. (As transcribed by the Wahkiakum County Historical Society) Wahkiakum County Eagle-March 1949 MILLER, Frank Leon Body of Frank Miller to Arrive Here March 12 Notice that the body of Frank Leon Miller, Watermaster 2/c will arrive in Cathlamet Saturday, March 12, for burial has been received by Hatton's Funeral Home. Frank Leon Miller was born June 20, 1922, at Missoula, Montana. He was killed in action on the Destroyer Cassin Young, July 30, 1945, at Okinawa. His age was 23 years, one month and ten days. He was a graduate of Wahkiakum high school in 1940 and was a member of the local Boy Scouts. Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller, Spirit Lake, Idaho, formerly of Miller's garage, Cathlamet; one brother, Gration D. Miller, of Portland; one sister, Mrs. Ila Jacobson, Longview, a grandfather, John D. Firman, Superior, Montana, and seven nieces and nephews. Details for a military funeral to be held Saturday, March 19, are in charge of Hatton's Funeral Home. Further details will be given next week.
