Nabor Mendez 1979 - 2005 Nabor Mendez, 26, of Brownsmead-Astoria, Ore., died of natural causes on Aug. 14, 2005. He was born May 28, 1979, in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Michoacan, Mexico, to Cristobal and Angela (Arroyo) Mendez. He moved with his family to the Puget Island/Cathlamet area as an infant. He became a U.S. citizen in 1991, graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1998 and attended Lower Columbia College. Mr. Mendez served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a mechanic with Dandy Digger and a milker for Rohnes Dairy in Brownsmead. He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Lorenzo Mendez, Frankie Mendez and Christopher Mendez; two sisters, Esther Ashe and Cristina Mendez; his grandmother, Maria Arroyo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ Congregational of Cathlamet. Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday at Dowling Funeral Home in Cathlamet. Published in The Daily News on 8/17/2005.
