Wahkiakum Eagle-March 4, 1999 Cathlamet, Wahkiakum County, Washington McCONNELL, Larry Rex Age 61, of Puget Island, died at the Hospice Care Center. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry 'Rex' and Myra Whimpy) McConnell, and moved from there to Onalaska where he graduated from high school in 1955. He had lived in this area for more than 40 years. He served in the Navy for eight years and worked as a yard supervisor for Pacific Fibre Products until his retirement in 1993. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, reading and woodworking in his shop. He was preceded in death by his father, Rex, in 1962, and by a brother, LeeRoy, in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Gladys, at home; his mother, Myra McConnell of Onalaska; a son, Ronald R. of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; a daughter, Renea D. Freeman of Fallon, Nev.; a sister, Colleen Atkin of Chehalis; five grandchildren and an aunt. A celebration of life was held Saturday at the family home on Puget Island.
