Wahkiakum County Eagle-December 02, 1971 SKAMOKAWA NEWS A gallant lady, old time friend and neighbor to us went to her final reward on Saturday, Nov. 27. Belle Martin died in the Renton Valley hospital after a long illness. She was buried from Skamokawa Methodist church Tuesday. Wahkiakum County Eagle-December 2, 1971 MARTIN, Belle Mrs. Flora Belle Martin of Skamokawa, died Saturday at Renton. She was born June 20, 1903 in Hessel, Mich. Mrs. Martin was a member of the United Methodist church of Skamokawa, the Skamokawa Grange and the Pocahontas lodge of Cathlamet. She came to Skamokawa in 1923 where she was employed as a school teacher. Survivors include her widower, Clarence, at home; three daughters, Gladys Martin of Tacoma, Evelyn Semmel of Renton and Patricia Clavin of Fall City; a son, David of Astoria; two sisters, Mildred Crandell and Ruth Martin, both of Seattle; one brother, Thomas Beveridge of Nordland; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Skamokawa United Methodist church with Rev. Richard Gossett officiating. McVicker’s Chapel of Longview was in charge.
