Wahkiakum County Eagle- May 1996 Raymond J. Markovich Age 78, of Longview, died at home. He was born in Richmond, Calif., to Joseph and Frances (Mladinich) Markovich. He attended schools in Beaverton and Aloha, Ore., and while in Cathlamet helped his father build the building presently occupied by the Sound of Music. He returned to this area in 1978 from Cody, Wyo., where he owned a service station for 18 years. Previously, he worked in construction in Alaska from 1949 to 1950. He drove a fuel truck for several years, retiring in 1978. He was a life member of the Cody Eagles and Elks, a 50-year member of the Longview American Legion, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Rose Catholic Church. His wife, Marjorie, died in 1989. He was also preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Allen of Bozeman, Mont., and Linda Markovich of Portland; three sisters, Marie Didricksen of Cathlamet, Catherine Lead of Portland and Dorothy Hale of Pacifica, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Hans Olson officiating.
