Wahkiakum Eagle-December 1984 Howard L. Madden Of Skamokawa, died Saturday in a Longview hospital. He was born at Cashton, Wisc., and had lived in Skamokawa since 1950. He owned and operated Howard's Service Station until his retirement. He served eight years as a Wahkiakum County commissioner, was a retired volunteer fireman and a musician who in recent years performed at many senior citizen affairs. He was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, at home; two sons, Howard of Kennewick and Pat of Longview; four daughters, Cathy Harper of Vancouver, Betty Johnson of Longview, Peggy Alston of Orange, California, and Penny Weathers of Central Point, Ore., and a foster daughter, Chris Smith of Longview; 19 grandchildren, one brother, Thomas Madden of Pendleton, Ore., and a sister, Frances Maier of Minneapolis. Rosary was recited Wednesday at St. Catherines Catholic Church and services were Thursday from St. Catherines Church, with Father Louis O'Grady officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
