The Wahkiakum County Eagle-Published Thursday, November 5, 2009 Mary A. Lynch Cathlamet resident, Mary Alice Lynch, 83, passed away October 31, 2009 at her home. She was born October 23, 1926 in San Francisco, Calif. to Harry and Ellen (Futtrup) Lynch. She graduated from Providence Academy in Vancouver in 1944 and in 1948 she graduated from Marylhurst in Lake Oswego, Ore. She moved to Cathlamet from Long Beach, Calif. in 1989. Mary was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and an oblate at St. Benedict in Mt. Angel, Ore. She was also a member of her church's Altar Society and Wahkiakum County Historical Society. Mary was a teacher at public schools in Long Beach, Calif. and retired in 1988 after 40 years of teaching. She was a talented artist, enjoying her informal art group and working with acrylics. She is survived by her brother, Jim Lynch and his wife, Audry of Cathlamet; and brother-in-law, Dean James and sister-in-law, Irma Lynch. She was a well loved aunt to many nieces and nephews and leaves behind many friends. She was preceded in death by brothers, John and Willard Lynch and her sister, Agnes James. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Cathlamet. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Friday. Viewing will take place prior to the service. She will be placed next to her parents at Ilwaco Cemetery in the family plot. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Lynch’s name to Cathlamet First Aid Division, P.O. Box 142, Cathlamet, WA 98632. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
