Wahkiakum County Eagle-Jul 1996 Henry "Hank" Longtain Age 94, of 98 Longtain Road, died at a Cathlamet area nursing home. He was born in Cathlamet, to Joseph and Adele (Potter) Longtain, who homesteaded on the lower Elochoman River in the late 1800's. A man who found his greatest joy in farming, he farmed in Cathlamet for more than 50 years, retiring in 1988. He was a logger for several years as well. He received his 50-year pin from the Elochoman Grange in1995. He was also a member of the First Free Church on Puget Island. He enjoyed hunting and playing the card game Pedro with his family. He and Norma Worthington were married Sept. 12, 1935. She died in 1990. He was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond, in 1953; three sisters, Madeline, Julian Souvenir and Ellen Gill; and four brothers, Emil, Joseph, Ray and Louie. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Curtis of Longview; two sons, Larry of Cathlamet, Robert of Culppeper, Va.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Saturday. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
