Unknown Newspaper-October 1971 Helmer V. Lindberg Age 68, funeral services were held Friday, who died in Ilwaco. The Rev. Alfred Olsen officiated at the service in the Naselle Assembly of God church. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea was in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were: Ed, Wallace, Willard, Bryan, and Roy Salme, and C. P. Yates. He was born in Rosburg, and received his schooling there. He worked for the Deep River Logging Co. and was a night watchman at the old Knappton mill. He also logged in the Holbrook area, and for a short time worked for the Electric Steel Co. For 21 years he was a Merchant Marine, and his travels took him all over the world. He was a member of the Maritime Masonic Lodge No. 193 of Portland. Survivors include his widow, Myrtle, whom he married in Cathlamet in March, 1923, at the family home in Naselle; one son, Dale, Beaverton; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Donna) Austin, Portland; one brother, Lester Lindberg, and two sisters, Hazel Bowman and Irene Leyendecker, all of Seaside.
