The Daily News Longview, Washington Wednesday, April 2, 1980 Obituaries Wallace M. Leonard Wallace M. Leonard, 82, of Puget Island died March 31, 1980, in a Fort Lewis hospital. He was born June 15, 1897, in Ritzville and had lived in this are for 22 years. Leonard was retired from the Army, was in a field artillery unit in France during World War I and commander of a battalion at Fort Sill, Okla., during World War II. He had worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife department as a refuge manager at Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge in Oregon, Tulelake and Sacramento bird refuges in California, and at the Camas Bird Refuge, Idaho. He has a past master of Pentalpha Masonic Lodge No. 276, and a member of the Christian Church and Longview Elks Lodge. Leonard is survived by his wife, Murice at home; two daughters John Heisler of Portland and Sarah Costanzo of Milwaukie, Ore.; a son Donald of Vallejo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Dowling Funeral Home, Cathlamet. Concluding services and interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum. The casket will remain closed.
