The Eagle-August 10, 1951 Skamokawa Pioneer Passes By Mrs. Belle Johnson SKAMOKAWA – Mrs. Emma Koblitz, a Skamokawa pioneer, died in Portland, July 31. On July 25 she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and never regained consciousness. Burial took place Aug. 3 in Portland. She and her husband settled in Skamokawa on the farm owned by his mother, Mrs. Annie Smith. After the death of Oscar Smith they purchased the Shepard farm in the Middle Valley, residing there until about 1932 when they sold their farm and moved to Portland. They had two sons, Elmer, who passed away at Clatskanie during the flu epidemic of 1918 and Edwin of Portland, with whom she resided until her death.
