Skamokawa Eagle-15 June 1916 Edgar Kelly - killed Tuesday in logging camp near Westport, Ore. Worked for Joe Florie at camp at Kerry's Landing, one 1/2 miles below Westport. Was a hook tender, at time of accident was loading ears while new man found for job. About 1:30, was caught between 2 logs and crushed. Lived 1 hour and 20 minutes. Body taken to Astoria and prepared for burial at undertaker Pohl & Simmons. Edgar Wilfred Kelly born in Skamokawa and was 23 years old. Second son of Mark Kelly. Educated in West Valley School. He had followed logging all his life and considered a skilled hook tender, one of the best in this section. His untimely death was a sad blow to his parents and relatives and has cast a gloom over this community.
