The Daily News, Longview, Wash.-Tuesday, November 5, 2002 JOHN J. KANDOLL Lifelong Rosburg resident John Jacob Kandoll, 88, died Nov. 2, 2002, in Cathlamet. He was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Astoria, to Jacob Hjalmer and Elsa Fredricka (Kummala) Kandoll and attended Seal River School. Mr. Kandoll and his brother, Ted, purchased the family farm in 1945 and dairy farmed, and later raised beef cattle until the present. He and his brother also owned and operated Kandoll Brothers Logging from 1950 to 1966. He was an active member of the Seal River Apostolic Lutheran Church of Rosburg, serving in may capacities over the years. He enjoyed carpentry and built his own home. He also enjoyed fishing and time spent with his large extended family. He married Mildred Seppanen on Aug. 24, 1954, in Berkeley, Calif. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 2001. Also preceding him were three brothers, Roy Kandoll, in 1940, Wiljo Kandoll, in 1991, and Gus Kandoll, in 2001. Survivors include a brother, Theodore "Ted" E. Kandoll of Rosburg; three sisters, Elsie M. Wirkkala of Longview, Elma S. Impola of Menahga, Minn., and Toini M. Seppanen of Lake Norden, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Seal River Apostolic Lutheran Church with pastors Tom Kandoll and Carl Kulla officiating. Interment and committal will take place at Seal River Cemetery in Rosburg. The viewing will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dowling Funeral Home in Cathlamet.
