The Daily News-January 1976 KANDOLL, Jacob Hjalmar Age 89, of Longview, died in a local hospital. He was born in Deep River, and had lived in Longview since 1955. Prior to his moving to Longview, he served as the postmaster of Rosburg from 1907 until 1919, operated the Rosburg General Store, served on the Rosburg School Board for a number of years, was a past director of the Lower Columbia Dairyman’s Association and was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church of Kelso. Survivors include four sons, Theodore and John, both of Rosburg; and Gustof and Wiljo, both of Grays River; three daughters, Elsie Wirkkala of Naselle, Elma Impola of Ironwood, Mich., and Toini Seppanen of Lake Norden, N.D.; a brother, Emil of Deep River; 65 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Seal River Apostolic Lutheran Church in Seal River, with Rev. Carl Kulla speaking in English and Rev. Ray Kurtti speaking in Finnish. McVicker’s Chapel on the Hill, Kelso, was in charge.
