Wahkiakum Eagle-November 1977 Emil Mathew Kandoll Age 95, of Deep River, died in a Longview hospital. He was born in Deep River and had been a resident of Grays River and Deep River his entire life. In earlier years he operated a freight and passenger boat service between Grays River and Astoria, operated a charter sport fishing boat on the Columbia River and had been a logger and farmer. He was a member of Seal River Apostolic Lutheran church, a lifetime member of the Finnish Brotherhood and a 65-year member of the Grays River Grange No 124. On October 5, 1911, he married Johanna Amumdsen, who preceded him in death. Survivors include three sons, Ernest E. of Longview, Walter G. and Richard R., both of Deep River; 17 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Grays River Methodist church with Rev. Gustaf Kandoll officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
