The Daily Astorian-April 1983 Juola, Eino S. September 25, 1918-March 26, 1983 A well-known Astoria native, Eino Sulo Juola, 66, died March 26 in Portland. Mr. Juola was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Astoria, the son of Antti and Hilda Empi Juola. He earned letters in baseball, football, basketball and track while attending Astoria High School and attended the University of Oregon in a football scholarship. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had won trophies for trapshooting. Mr. Juola had bee a hunter safety instructor, having taught more than 1,000 youths in safe hunting practices. Among his hobbies were photography, boat building and gun collecting. He was a pilot, and active in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of Elks, Clatsop County Duck Hunters, International Machinists Union, Ducks Unlimited and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He served on the board of directors of Lower Columbia Bowl and was instrumental in it’s organization. He had been a machinist for Bumble Bee Seafoods here and in Alaska for many years. On May 21, 1949 he married Ila Rae Congleton in Camas, Wash. She survives. Also surviving are a brother, Arvo Juola, East Lansing, Mich.; a son, Robert Juola, Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Margaret Forbes, Hillsboro, and Robyn Juola, Portland; and four grandchildren. A memorial service ill be held at a later day. Memorial Contributions may be to the Columbia River Maritime Museum or the Elks Eye Clinic.
