The Wahkiakum County Eagle-November 20, 2008 Donald Roy Johnson Cathlamet resident, Donald Ray Johnson, 67, passed away November 12, 2008 at Community Hospice. He was born July 7, 1941 in Raymond, WA to Loyle and Mary (Ponzoha) Johnson. Donald lived in the Longview-Kelso area for 40 years and graduated from Kelso High School in 1959. For the past 8 years he resided in Cathlamet. He married Sharon Peek on December 16, 2000 on Puget Island; she survives him at home. Donald was a deacon in his church, Covenant Reformed OPC of Longview. He retired from Weyerhaeuser Dec. 31, 1995 after 35 years. He was a foreman at retirement. Donald was involved in little league baseball in Kelso and Washington State Jaycees. He loved gardening, dahlia growing and was a kind gentle man of strong faith. Besides his wife Sharon, he is survived by his mother, Mary A. Johnson of Longview; sons “Biff” Keith Johnson of Tigard, OR, Owen Johnson of Toledo, WA and Jay Johnson of Florence, OR: stepsons Robert Wilkins of Florida, Richard Wilkins of Montana and Ray Peek of Cathlamet; stepdaughter Bonnie Bigler of Cathlamet; a sister “Kookie” Hendren of Longview; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; several step- grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two nieces, a great-niece and five great-nephews. A funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Visitation will take place before the service from 10- 12.
