Wahkiakum County Eagle-February 1996 John Joseph Jaspers Age 80, died at his Puget Island home. He was born at Deer Island, Ore., to Gus J. and Augusta (Berg) Jaspers. He was a retired pilebuck in heavy construction. He moved to this area in 1925. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and he enjoyed fishing and clamming. He served in the Coast Guard and was a member of the Piledrivers Union and the Cowlitz Caravan Trailer club. Survivors include a daughter Amy Prestegard of Anchorage; a son, Jay Jaspers of Bainbridge Island; a sister Gertrude Hantke of Portland and dear friends Mari Linne Hagel and family of Bridgeport; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ivy in 1986 and a sister Beulah Miller in 1989. Services were held Friday from Dowling Chapel. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
