Wahkiakum County Eagle-March 27, 1975 JASPER BROTHERS RIVER VICTIMS Two brothers, Donald 44, and Richard Jaspers, 35, drowned in a boating accident last Friday night. The brothers were on the Columbia River between Puget Island and Sand Island and when they did not return home their father Roy Jaspers went searching and Saturday morning a full scale search operation with a boat and a diver was instituted. Shortly after noon the body of Donald was found and the search is continuing for his brother. The search is under the direction of the sheriff’s office. Wahkiakum Co. Eagle-March 27, 1975 JASPERS, Donald Roy Born on Puget Island. He was a farmer, a veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Fumiko K.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Jaspers; paternal grandmother, Liddie M. Jaspers of Longview; maternal grandmother, Emma C. Johns of Nehalem Oregon. Funeral services were held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church on Saturday, March 29, with Rev. Paul Roper officiating.
