Wahkiakum Eagle-January 2001 IRVING, Esther Pauline Age 96, died at her Puget Island home. She was born at Tacoma, the daughter of Peter and Alice Ingebretson Wik. She was a life long resident of this area. She was a graduate of Wahkiakum High school and attended business college in Astoria. As a young woman she worked in the Cathlamet cannery and as a hair dresser. In 1934 she was married to the late Roy Irving and they had a dairy farm for over 40 years and later raised beef on their Elochoman valley farm. She attended the Cathlamet Congregational church. One of her hobbies was writing short stories. She is survived by her son, Terry, two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were Saturday at the cemetery. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
