Wahkiakum County Eagle-April 1996 Torrence Dean Howard Age 73, died at an area nursing home. He was born in Waitsburg, to Earl Clinton and Aurora Borealis (Lotspeech) Howard. A self-employed farmer, he lived on Puget Island from 1927 to 1977 and then in Skamokawa. He had lived in Kelso the last two years. He was a life member of the Puget Island Grange No. 660 and a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Puget Island. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and was a retired volunteer fireman. He leaves a close friend, Millie Culp of Kelso; two nieces and a nephew. Graveside services were Thursday with Rev. Kim Hastings officiating.
