Oregonian, The (Nov/5/2003) Howard R. Holscher, 90, lifelong area resident Howard R. Holscher, a lifelong resident of the Forest Grove area, died July 27, 2003, at the age of 90. A cryptside service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Forest View Cemetery. Mr. Holscher was born Oct. 28, 1912, at the family home in the Watts district west of Forest Grove, the son of Richard and Nancy (McCoy) Holscher. He was raised and educated in Forest Grove and stayed on the family farm. On July 15, 1955, he married Irma Dull in Stevenson, Wash. Shortly before Mr. Holscher died, the couple celebrated their 48th anniversary. Mrs. Holscher was a carpenter and remodeler and built many homes. After he retired, he built bird houses and feeders with his horse trademark on them. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Land and Ethel Thompson. Survivors, all of Forest Grove, are his wife, Irma,; two sons and daughters-in law: Richard and Wilma Holscher and Stephen and Darlene Holscher; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Tim Jensen; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Alma Holscher; and a sister, Irene Stanley. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
