The Daily News-May 1975 John Gustav Holland Age 87, of Cathlamet, died at home on Puget Island. He was born in Vik, Norway, and had lived on Puget Island for the past 58 years, was a commercial fisherman and farmer, a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Fishermen's Union. Survivors include his wife, Elise, at home; a son Marvin of Cathlamet; two daughters, Neva Brown of Sutherland, Ore., Cora Irving of Puget Island; a sister, Lena Fjer of Norway; seven grandchildren, Linda Toste and Kristie Irving of Puget Island, Larry Holland of Cathlamet, Sheryl Burnside of Kalama, Bill Irving of Centralia, Leann Brown of Huntington Beach, Calif., Lorna Brown of Sutherland, Ore.; two great grandchildren, Paul and Bryan Toste of Puget Island. Funeral services were Saturday at Out Saviour's Lutheran Church with Rev. Ph. Mueller officiating. Dowling Funeral Home of Cathlamet was in charge.
