Wahkiakum Eagle-June 2000 HAMRICK, Stella (Cook) Kapron Age 101, a Cathlamet resident, died in Cathlamet. She was born in Sturgeon Lake, Minn., the daughter of William and Hattie (Urbaniak) Cook. She attended school in Minnesota before moving to Cathlamet, where she lived most of her life. She worked for the City of Cathlamet in the 1950s and 1960s in maintenance and janitorial positions. She was a very active member of the Cathlamet Assembly of God, where she worked with the W.M.F. She loved gardening, flowers, music, and traveling, and enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors, carpentry, and woodworking. She helped with the construction of the Cathlamet Assembly of God. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Walker of Hazel Dell; a daughter- in-law, Darlene Kapron of Kelso; a sister, Agnes Simpson of Seattle; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mike Kapron, in the 1950s, second husband, Dave Hamrick in 1991, two sons, Harry Kapron and Johnny Kapron; a daughter, Sophia Sudahl; four brothers, Lester, Tony, Joe and Stanley Cook; and five sisters, Anna, Mary, Ida, Sophie and Helen. A graveside memorial service was held June 24 at the cemetery in Cathlamet, with Reverend John Turner of the Cathlamet Assembly of God. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
