Kathleen L. Haataja

   
1922 - 2004

Kathleen Lorraine Haataja, 81, of Cathlamet, died Sept. 14, 2004. 

She was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Astoria, and grew up in Rosburg. She graduated 
from Naselle High School. 

On Feb. 3, 1946, she married Harold "Hutch" Haataja and became a homemaker, 
helping her husband operate the family dairy farm. She later worked as a 
telephone operator for Western Wahkiakum Telephone. 

Mrs. Haataja is survived by a son, Lyle Haataja; two daughters, Karen Slodysko 
and Nina Berg; a sister, Marcia Fauver; eight grandchildren; and six great-
grandchildren. 

Her husband preceded her in death in 2003. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Bible Church in 
Grays River. A reception will follow at the church. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Scholarship Fund or 
the Valley Bible Church Building Fund, in care of Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, 
P.O. Box 417, Long Beach, WA 98631.
