Wahkiakum Eagle-December 1998/January 1999 HAATAIA, Carla Lynn (Kinney) Age 38, former Naselle resident, died of a brain tumor in Portland. She was born in Jerome, Idaho, to Carl and Vivian (Moore) Kinney. She lived in Shoshone, Idaho, until age 11, when the family moved to Richmond. She graduated from high school there and was a 1981 graduate of Northwest College in Kirkland. She and Robert Haataia were married July 23, 1983, in Redmond. They lived briefly in Naselle before moving to Kent, and then to Beaverton in 1994. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Life Center in Aloha, Ore. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and church missionettes. She loved her family and was devoted to them and her Christian faith. Besides her husband of 15 years, she leaves two daughters, Alecia and Amanda Haataia, and two sons, Brycen and Brandon Haataia, all at home. Other survivors include her father, Carl Kenney of Redmond; a brother, Mike Kinney of Albany, Ore.; and three sisters, Carmen Martin of Dublin, Ireland, Tammy Ignell of Juneau, Alaska, and Linda Heisler of Portland. Her mother died earlier. A memorial service was held Saturday at Christian Life Center, Aloha. Graveside services were Sunday. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach, was in charge.
