The Eagle-June 28, 1945 GORMAN, Roy “Mike” Mike Gorman Dies in Action War was again brought close to us when late Tuesday evening a telegram from the War Department announced that Pvt. Roy (Mike) Gorman, serving in the infantry, had been killed June 5th in action on Mindanao. Mike, as he was known to everyone in the community, was born in Cathlamet 22 years ago and grew up here. He graduated from Wahkiakum high school where he was very prominent in athletics. After graduation he was employed as cashier in the Wahkiakum county Bank, a position which he held with much credit to himself until his induction into service. He is survived by his widow, Carol Jean, and little daughter, Norma Kay, both of Cathlamet; his mother, Mrs. Katie Gorman of Portland; four brothers, Melvin, Andrew and Howard, in the service, and Robert of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Sealey and Catherine of Oregon. His brother Howard (Pat) is home at the present time on a short furlough after completing training for the Naval Amphibious forces.
