Wahkiakum Eagle-February 1998 GOODELL, Clifford L. Age 45, of Portland, died of natural causes in Salem, Ore. He was born in Ilwaco, to Eugene S. and Ethel C. (Jones) Goodell. He attended Grays River Grade School and Naselle High School until the age of 16, and he also enrolled in the Job Corps, where he studied auto body repair. He enjoyed gillnetting with his father on the Columbia River. At the time of his death, he was a certified flagger. An active member of the Chinook Indian Tribe, he was a strong supporter of Indian treaties. His mother died in 1981 and a sister died in 1978. He never married. He leaves his father, Eugene S. Goodell Sr. of Astoria; two brothers, Eugene Goodell Jr. of Portland and Lawrence Goodell of Aberdeen; a sister, Annette Bowley of Bend Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held Thursday at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria.
