ED GILMORE DEAD Well-known Skamokawa timber cruiser, died suddenly at the California saloon in Portland, opposite the Esmond Hotel, Monday. The cause of death is given by the Portland newspapers as due to excitement on account of a fire in the Gilman Hotel near the saloon. He is said to have been epileptic. He has been a resident of Skamokawa for about twenty years, his father, the late John W. Gilmore, being known to many old pioneers of this section. He was accidentally shot in one arm about seventeen years ago while on a hunting trip with Herb Prescott. Loss of use of one arm resulted. He was a hard drinker of late years, and his constitution was almost completely wrecked by the excessive use of liquor. Edward B.
