The Wahkiakum County Eagle-June 8, 2006 Nogi Fritzie Nogi Gustaf Fritzie of Puget Island, died May 31, 2006 at the age of 101. He was born November 18, 1904 in Trelleberg, Sweden, the son of John and Anna (Soderberg) Fritzie. He was raised in Sweden where he attended an agricultural college. He served in the Swedish Cavalry, which honed his superb riding skills, Eventually he immigrated to Canada and in 1930, he moved on to Seattle and eventually to Puget Island, where he lived the rest of his many years. On October 19, 1930, he married Rae Camilla Pederson in Los Angeles. She preceded him in death in 2001. Mr. Fritzie worked for the Washington Department of Transportation from the mid 1950’s until 1973. He taught local people to ride horses and rode and showed horses for many years. He loved to fish and cut wood. Survivors include sons Johnny Fritzie and Robert Fritzie, both of Cathlamet; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Sweden. A Celebration of Life service will be held June 24, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Dowling Chapel in Cathlamet. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
