Wahkiakum Eagle-February 1998 Fouts, Jeanette Gladys Age 69, of Grays River, died at a Cathlamet nursing home. She was born in Brookston, Minn., to Albert and Mabel (Linder) Lilley, and grew up in Minnesota, where she graduated from Floodwood High school in 1946. That same year, she came to Longview, and in 1948 she moved to Wahkiakum County. She and Thomas Fouts were married in Naselle in November 1962. She worked as a grocery clerk at Appelo's in Grays River for 30 years, retiring in the early 1980's. From 1985 to 1995 she and her husband wintered in Welton, Ariz. She enjoyed sewing, baking, canning, dancing, traveling and doing different crafts. Memberships included the Grays River Grange, the American Legion Post 111 of Deep River, and the Veterans of Foreign wars in Welton. She was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors include her husband, Tom, at home; two daughters, Teri See of Rosburg and Jaqui Robbins of Central Point, Ore.; a son, Jeffrey B. Landon of Klawock, Alaska; two step-children, Brad Fouts of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Joni Fouts of Newberg, Ore.; a sister, Maida Otterson of Chinook; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Burns. Memorial services were held Saturday at the Barr-Johnson-Hill American Legion Post 111 at Deep River. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
