Published in The Daily News on 1/10/2004. Lucille Edith "Lucy" Forney 1933 - 2004 Lucille "Lucy" Edith Forney, 71, died on December 31, 2003 in Kelso. She was born to Joseph and Edith Hoven on April 18, 1933 in Ryderwood, Washington. Lucy attended Ryderwood School where she had been a cheerleader. She married Darrel Forney on March 2, 1952, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary before he passed away on December 20, 1977. Mrs. Forney enjoyed helping others and worked as a CNA until she was injured on the job. She lived for her family and friends, whom she loved spending time with. She enjoyed the beach, sketching, growing plants/flowers and living in the Northwest. Two sons, William and Robert Forney both of Kelso and two daughters, Christine Huffstutler of Longview and Peggi Forney Brown of Kelso, survive Lucy. She is also survived by a sister, Jean Hoven of Vader and brothers, Floyd and Butch Hoven of Kelso, Duke, Homer and Ray Hoven all of Vader. Grandchildren, Lisa Nolan and Jason Huffstutler, Misty and Melissa Forney, Wendy Forney, Jessiee, Holly, Michelle and Heather Forney and Darrel Forney. Great-grandchildren, T.J., Sheena and Kristen Nolan, Abigail Forney, Achlynn Matney and Maranika Martin. She had many, many children who called her mom or grandma because she was well loved. Mrs. Forney was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Steven Forney; a grandson, Christopher Huffstutler; a sister Ruth Larson; and brothers, Richard, Dewey, Roy, Albert and Edward Hoven. At Mrs. Forney's request cremation has taken place. There will be a potluck gathering for family and friends on Saturday, January 10, 2004 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Vader Lions Hall in Vader, Washington.
