The Wahkiakum County Eagle-Published Thursday, January 7, 2010 Norris R. Ferguson Norris R. Ferguson, 90, passed away January 1, 2010 at Frontier Care Facility. He was born September 19, 1919 in Portland, Ore., to Norris and Frances (Logan) Ferguson. Norris graduated from high school in Portland. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as an operating engineer in the Portland area for over 30 years before retiring in 1981. He moved to Puget Island in 1986. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards, but his greatest pleasure was enjoying the beauty of the Columbia River. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Carpenter and her husband Ron; a sister, Juanita Sericko; his longtime companion, Myrtle Gorley; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bettie Linquist. No services will be held at his request. Memorial contributions may be made in Norris Ferguson’s name to Cowlitz County Humane Society, P.O. Box 172, Longview, WA 98632. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
