The Daily News - 04/28/2004 Longview, Washington Ervest, Raymond A. 1921 - 2004 Raymond A. "Ray" Ervest, 83, of Olympia, died April 23, 2004. He was born April 11, 1921, in Astoria and graduated from high school in Olympia. Mr. Ervest served as a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps and was stationed in the Asiatic Theatre for 18 months. He was a timber faller for Weyerhaeuser Co. while living in Rosburg, was employed by the Washington Department of Fisheries in Kalama and retired from Art's Electric in Longview. He lived in Olympia for the past 18 years. He married Peggy Steele on Dec. 25, 1965. She survives him. Also surviving are a daughter, Candy Dilley; three stepsons, John Hinton, Pete Hinton and Michael Hinton; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His first wife, Viola (Kemppi) Ervest, preceded him in death. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Seal River Cemetery in Rosburg. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall in Deep River. The visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach.
