Published in The Daily News on 1/24/2007. Clara H. Emery 1910 - 2007 Clara Hazel Emery, 96, of Federal Way died Jan. 21, 2007. She was born Aug. 23, 1910, in Centerville, Wash., to Herman and Anna (Matta) Hyrkas. Her family moved to Salmon Creek in 1912. She attended Salmon Creek School and Naselle High School. Mrs. Emery worked at the Deep River Cooperative Store and at the dental office of Dr. Parpala in Astoria. She married Bud Emery in Newport, Ore, and they had three children. They lived in Tillamook, Empire, North Bend, Portland and Panama before retiring to Federal Way. Mrs. Emery is survived by her husband; a daughter, Anne Anderson; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Salmon Creek Cemetery in Naselle.
