Wahkiakum Eagle-April 1997 ELLISON, William H. Age 65, died of cancer at his Baker City home. He was born at Grand Forks, N. D., to William J. and Orpha I. (Frank) Ellison. At age nine the family moved to Washington State where he graduated from Anacortes High School in 1949. While attending Skagit Valley Jr. College, he operated an independent logging company. In 1951 he joined the US Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sargent while serving as chief gunner on the B-36 bomber. On July 7, 1952, he married Nora J. Soros in New Westminster, B. C., Canada. He graduated from Oregon State College in 1959 with a B.Sc. in Forest Engineering. Employed by Crown Zellerbach at their Clatsop Managed Forest, he moved to Seaside, later being transferred to the Molalla and Cathlamet Managed Forests. In 1981 he retired from Crown Zellerbach as Production Manager in Seaside. During this time he also became a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. In 1981 he moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where he was employed by Sealaska Timber Corp. as Production Manager, retiring in 1986 as President of the corporation. He then embarked on a second career when the Ellisons purchased the Chevrolet dealership in Baker City. They operated Ellison Motors, Inc. until February, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Nora J. Ellison at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul W. and Yvonne Ellison of Milwaukie, Ore.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer A. and Richard Quigley of Astoria, Ore., and Lisa K. and Steven Briles of Dallas, Ore.; one grandson, Jason Ellison of Milwaukie; four granddaughters, Kristann and Allison Quigley of Astoria and Kaitlyn and Amber Briles of Dallas; a twin brother and sister-in-law, Jack N. and Marjorie Ellison of Pasco, Wash.; and 24 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan M. Carabba. Services were held on April 26, 1997, at Grays West & Co. Pioneer Chapel in Baker City.
