Skamokawa Eagle or Columbia River Sun-08 September 1917 GRAYS RIVER, Wash., Sept 8--Mary Jane Durrah, a pioneer resident of the Crooked Creek county died at the home of her son, Elmer at Eden, Wash., on Saturday. Mrs. Durrah was widely known in the lower end of the county and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was born at Oakland, Oregon, December 1, 1859 and was united in marriage to Alex Durrah in 1877. Her husband passed away in December of 1915, the couple having lived and reared their family on the old farm home at Eden practically all of the time until his death. Mrs. Durrah is survived by her aged mother, Mary C. Adams of Kelso, Wash., and also by two brothers, Thomas M. Adams of Cathlamet, former Sheriff of Wahkiakum county; and Walter Adams of Kelso, Wash. A sister, Mrs. Alice Rulifson resides at Carrols, Washington. Besides these relatives, Elmer Durrah and Mrs. Hazel Ingalls, a son and daughter respectively, are still living at Eden while another son was drowned July 22, 1900.
