The Eagle-April 27, 1951 Pioneer J. Doumit Passes Funeral services for one of Wahkiakum county’s oldest pioneers, John Doumit, 77, will be held in St. Rose’s Catholic church in Longview Saturday. He died Thursday morning in a Longview hospital, after a long illness. Rosary will be tonight in the Ditlevsen-Moore chapel in Kelso. He was born June 15, 1873 in Syria and came to this country in the early 1890’s. Moving to Cathlamet in 1896, he started a store near the old Coates dock and moved the store to its present location in 1903. He is survived by four sons, Mitchell, Eli, George and Harry, of Cathlamet; five daughters, Rose Kiblan of St. Helens, Sally Bloomquist of Port Orchards, Marian Peterson and Leona Boyer of Cathlamet and Helen Marie Doumit of Stevenson; and 16 grandchildren. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary cemetery in Portland. Ditlevsen-Moore Funeral home was in charge. John Doumit Mt.
