Wahkiakum Eagle-December 31, 1997 DODGE, Nettie Age 78, of Puget Island, died in a Longview medical center. She was born in Aberdeen, Idaho, to Jacob H. and Rose Elinor (Norton) Peterson, and grew up in Idaho. She and Verne Dodge were married December 18, 1939, in Boise, and were also married in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for "time and eternity" on July 8, 1959. The Dodges moved to Cathlamet in 1948, remaining there until 1976. They then lived for a year in Mountain Home, Idaho, and then in Lebanon, Ore., until 1996, when they returned to the Cathlamet area. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, especially fancy work, reading and her family. She liked to play bingo and was a member of the Cathlamet LDS church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Verne, at home; two daughters, Mida Rose Pedersen of Rainier and Mary Lou Riley of Cathlamet; two sons, Vernon R. 'Jake' of Tacoma and James 'Jim' of Lebanon, Ore.; two sisters, Betty Lou Bowman of Blanding, Utah, and Carol Jean Howard of Caldwell, Idaho; 20 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Effie Payton, and a brother, Robert J. Peterson, both in 1997. Funeral services were Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cathlamet. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
